Toddbrook Reservoir

Toddbrook Reservoir

The multi‑year reconstruction of Toddbrook Reservoir has focused on delivering a completely new overflow spillway system after the 2019 auxiliary spillway failure, with major works led by the Canal & River Trust and contractor Kier. Construction has included excavating more than 15,000 tonnes of soil, installing over 500 concrete piles and 1,000 sheet piles to support the new spillway structure, alongside the creation of a new side weir, tumble bay, stepped spillway channel and stilling basin to safely route excess water into the River Goyt. By late 2025, the new spillway structure was completed, with landscaping, dam‑slope reinstatement and reservoir refilling scheduled through 2026 as the site is restored for community use. Capital Reinforcing supplied the steel reinforcement used during the construction works.
